Non-destructive material analysis (PMI) to prevent material mix-ups
Positive Material Identification (PMI) is an essential testing method for quickly and precisely verifying alloy composition. Using mobile X-ray fluorescence (XRF) or optical emission spectrometry (OES), we determine the chemical composition of metals and alloys directly on-site — without damaging components or requiring sample removal.
Key features and applications:
- Complete material verification: Reliable identification of stainless steels, nickel, titanium and special alloys for pressure vessels, piping and critical equipment components.
- Avoiding costly mix-ups: Protection against incorrect material use and safety-related risks during material receiving, manufacturing, assembly, as well as during turnarounds and equipment acceptance.
- Real-time results without lab delays: Immediate on-site or in-service results, including preparation of standards-compliant inspection reports (per EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 and ASME Sec. II).
